At 25.2% of the market, Rock music remained the most purchased genre among music consumers in 2003 while fans continued to purchase their music from new sources, according to the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) 2003 Consumer Profile - an annual demographic survey of more than 2,900 music consumers in the United States.
