7/17: Your Music in Movies & TV Workshop

Jul 8th, 2004 | By Staff | Category: Events

Stacey Powells delivers her info-packed workshop again on July 17. Find out at NARIP’s workshop about fee ranges, rights, and the whole “how-to” of licensing music for film, video, and TV.

Topics to be covered in the workshop:
* What is music clearance?
* Why music clearance is vital in film and TV
* Licensing a song from A-Z
* Fee ranges
* Who do you contact to license a song?
* Who owns what and why?
* Why you need permission to use a song.
* Generating a quote request, negotiating the quote.
* Avoiding music clearance nightmares.
* What is “Rear-Window” and “Fair Use”?
* Why we love songs in the public domain.
* When is it necessary to call copyright holders and
re-negotiate?

The “Money for Your Music” workshop contains plenty of
examples to see and take home. It’s more than the many
Film/TV clips with music samples. You also receive:
* Music cue sheets.
* Quote requests.
* Confirmation letters.
* Licenses (and what the legal language really means).
* Restricted list.
* Music breakdown.
