Renting Instead of Ripping

Here’s another blip on the trend that shows us you’ll get compensated more in the future for access to your music than ownership. The folks at PC Magazine weigh out the total cost of ownership of a substantial music collection and realize that — as WiFi and broadband become ubiquitous — it’s far cheaper to belong to a buffet service like Rhapsody or Virgin Digital than it is to keep buying CDs or even MP3’s.
