Next month’s book club selection: Getting Things Done

Jul 25th, 2005 | By Joe Taylor Jr. | Category: Books and Classes

Ever since I started working personally with musicians on improving their income, I’ve noticed that 80% of my first discussions revolve around time management and task management. For years, I subscribed to the Franklin Covey school of prioritizing tasks. While I still believe in the "four quadrants," I love the way that David Allen’s book, Getting [...]

Watch those contracts, part deux

Jul 25th, 2005 | By Joe Taylor Jr. | Category: News

I keep yammering on about the importance of band agreements — not just for what can happen to you if you don’t have one, but what can happen if you don’t honor one. Two former members of the Doors found out the hard way this morning that they have to fork over all of the [...]

Just like Lance Armstrong…

He just put [...]

David’s got a great set of suggestions to maximize your investment in books about the music business. As I discussed on our member call about The War of Art, you can easily trap yourself by reading about success without doing anything about it. (Scott and others call it music business porn!) So, as someone that’s [...]

Fun with barcodes

Jul 21st, 2005 | By Joe Taylor Jr. | Category: Selling CDs

A new 80’s Hits compilation in the UK has a huge bar code on the front cover. Three problems:

1. Confused cashiers are scanning this big bar code, instead of the real bar code on the back.

2. When scanning the huge bar code, it works (!) and the price comes up at about 40% off the [...]
