It doesn’t necessarily make it harder, Doug. In fact, it just proves that “showing up” is most of the battle. Here’s someone that had guaranteed distribution, guaranteed press, guaranteed airplay — but none of that works unless there’s an actual artist showing up to make appearances and be real. “Showing up” is the biggest part of the equation, and THAT doesn’t cost you a thing.
