Marc Cohn Shooting – First Hand

Shane Fontayne provides a first hand account of the attempted carjacking that almost took Marc Cohn’s life. Long time spinme.com readers know the rant I’m about to go on here…

If you’re just starting out, it can be easy to scrimp on the “what-if’s.” You’re in a business. And every business protects its key personnel with insurance. You do not have to spend a lot of money to get basic coverage to protect you from the unexpected. Most of you can get “dire emergency” health insurance for about fifty dollars a month. Most of you can get a quarter million dollars of term life insurance for about twenty-five to thirty dollars a month. ALL of you should have car insurance, especially now that GEICO, Progressive, and 1-800-SAFE-AUTO all have bare-bones packages.

Yes, I know what it’s like to eat rice and beans and cry over writing out checks of $150 a month for insurance that you hope you’ll never have to use. Having survived a major car accident myself, with a wife that recently survived major surgery, I can also tell you first hand that those insurance payments turned out to be some of the most important investments I have ever made.
