** PROTECT YOURSELF FROM “BAND SITE? OUTAGES.

The other day, SoundClick went down for a while. Whenever

that happens, I watch a flurry of postings at music bulletin

boards, screeching about the fact that fans are getting the

web equivalent of “dead air.? Although free sites like

MySpace and SoundClick serve a purpose and round out your

audience, serious bands reduce their risk and raise their

profile by owning their own branded site. You can do it,

too, for a lot less than you think:

** BE MY GUEST ON THIS AFTERNOON’S CONFERENCE CALL.

Our members already know the value of our “open phones?

conference calls. They can get on the line with me about six

times every month and ask me specific questions about their

plans, their projects, and their businesses. Today at 3pm

Eastern / Noon Pacific, I’m opening up a call to

non-members, so you can learn just how valuable these calls

really are! To reserve your place, just follow the

instructions at this link:

** BOOST YOUR CD SALES.

One of the most common questions I get asked on our

conference calls and at my speaking engagements is, “how can

we sell more CDs at shows?? Bob Baker spent some time last

week compiling some of the very best advice on the matter.

Some of these very simply solutions will surprise you!

** LET’S WORK TOGETHER, STARTING THIS MONTH!

I have TWO (!) slots open immediately to start working with

musicians that want to grow their audiences and get better

gigs over the next six months. My personal coaching clients

meet with me three times on the phone every month, and work

with me online in a password-protected, private hub. Fill

out our new client questionnaire and schedule a trial

session to discover exactly what we can accomplish together:

(Trial sessions cost $25 for 25 minutes, and there is a

limit of one trial session per person. The $25 helps cover

administrative costs that free my schedule to offer

sessions.)

** GROW YOUR AUDIENCE USING WEBLOGS.

Far from a flash in the pan, weblogs are changing the way

that tastemaking audience members experience new music. One

of our clients used a podcast to get a song heard by 6,000

new listeners last month. Tonight at 8pm Eastern / 5pm

Pacific, I’m holding a conference call seminar for our site

members. I’ll share some specific things you can do to

expose your music to the blogosphere and grow your audience.

Members can log in to the members area to register. You can

** IS INDEPENDENT MUSIC TOO SERIOUS FOR ITS OWN GOOD?

This topic might be the 800-pound gorilla that even I ignore

from time to time. Do you get the sense that audience

members stay away from independent music because scenesters

take themselves too seriously? If music is supposed to be

fun, why is there so much angst around our community? And

what can we do about it? Here’s a start:

** HAVE YOU TAKEN OUR FIVE DAY CRASH COURSE?

A little while ago, I wrote down the five most powerful tips

from all of my books and seminars. You can get this

collection of material sent to your inbox as my gift, just

by visiting a special website I set up:
