Amazon and Google in talks to break iTunes’ grip on music downloads

Apple’s iTunes service, which currently has a 70-80 percent share of legal digital music sales, might not be in the lead for long. Separately, Amazon and Google are talking with industry executives to come up with alternate downloading services that people can use instead of iTunes. Apparently, Amazon is farther ahead in its plans than Google. But for now, no new services have been launched. How do you get your music? Do you still buy CDs or do you download music? Are you an iTunes user?

  1. I personally am not an iTunes user, but only because I don’t want to buy an iPod and have to spend a zillion days transferring my collection onto it. My girlfriend has one and the darn thing has taken over her life.

I’m waiting for the celestial jukebox. 😉
