REAPER: almost-free recording software

Although it’s not quite to version 1.0 yet, Reaper looks like it’s going to be killer recording shareware. Windows-only, but lots of the same features you’d expect from a pricier recording suite. I particularly like the VST/DXi support since there’s a ton of great free audio plug-ins floating around out there. (Via Brad.)

  1. I actually just downloaded this and installed it. It is a pretty protool comparable system, and definately worth what you pay for it (NOTHING!)

I will probably use this on my PC just to give me a change of pace from my Mac protools rig. I think I have become too pro-protool! HAHA 🙂

  2. Finally found exactly what I was looking for. A simple, easy-to-use, free, powerful, way to record multi-track acoustic songs with acceptable latency and midi capabilities. Fantastic. As soon as I have an extra few bucks I’ll definately send a donation check. I’m finally back in the studio.
