Site Update: You may notice the plane tilting slightly toward the cliffs…

For folks who have been asking… YES! There is still a 2010 edition of Grow Your Band’s Audience on the horizon. Not only have I been taking extra time to update the case studies, I’ve been reworking the original manuscript into a format that’s going to work well on the Kindle and the iPad. And where it’s headed now, I will probably take the exercise worksheets out of the main book and compile them into a downloadable workbook.

In the meantime, you might have noticed a shift in emphasis on spinme.com. While I’m still writing about ways for independent musicians to make more money, I’ve noticed a recent surge in the number of folks coming to the site to learn how to become music management professionals. In fact, I’d venture to say that Music Management for the Rest of Us is on the cusp of outselling Grow Your Band’s Audience!

Some of the great ideas I’ve been having while developing Music Management Boot Camp are going to show up here on the site as a series called “Music Management Skills.” One of my goals for 2010 is to make spinme.com a site where novice music managers can learn how to support their clients and themselves more effectively while maintaining the sense of fun that attracted them to the business.

So, if you’re self-managed and you see me writing about “your clients,” just pretend that I’m talking to “manager you” and not “artist you.” But the bigger question to ask is whether you can grow a success team that takes some of the day-to-day burden of running your music business off your hands.

Keep watching for new “Music Management Skills” articles in the coming weeks, and feel free to contact me with any questions you’d like to see me answer here on the blog.
