UPDATE 4.4.07: American Idol Songwriting Competition Signups Open!!
We figured as much, but reality blurred points us to an interview with American Idol Executive Producer Ken Warwick, who tells TV Week that “it still may happen, but at the moment, it’s on the back burner.”
If the reaction on our own site is any indication, American Idol would have wound up with a deluge of entries and who knows how someone would have sorted them all out. (More than a few folks have suggested having songs bubble up from American Idol Underground, which would be a really smart idea.)
