LAMP Presents another great seminar on April 10th, from 10:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. at the Music Connection Theatre, 4215 Coldwater Canyon (north of Ventura)
Featuring Author, Lyrics Guru and Berklee Professor Pat Pattison
Admission is $75 in advance and $95 at the door. NOTE: This is NOT a course for first-time lyric writers.
“In its simplest form, this is the basic rule of songwriting: keep your listener interested all the way through your song. Get them with you from the beginning with a strong opening line, then keep them with you the rest of the way. Whether they stay or go is up to you.” — Pat Pattison
Here’s a rare chance to meet Pat Pattison, professor of lyric writing and poetry at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he developed the curriculum for the only Songwriting Major in the country. He is the author of “Writing Better Lyrics,” the “Essential Guide to Rhyming,” and the “Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure.” Pat presents a unique, in-depth approach to the process of lyric writing. He revolutionizes songwriting imagery, and helps you create meaningful metaphors and similes while avoiding clichés. His philosophy of songwriting is that the song must come from someplace inside the writer and that getting the meaning of the song across to the listener is critical.
