Onlinegigs.com and the Tipitina’s Music Foundation will be holding a seminar on “Using Technology to Book Your Own Music Career.�?
The Tipitina’s Music Foundation will host the event at the Music Office Co-Op on April 28, 2004 at 5:30pm.
Jay Flanzbaum of Onlinegigs.com will give a presentation on utilizing technology to effectively book, promote and manage an independent music career. The seminar will be free and open to the general public.
Topics covered will be:
*finding new contacts in unfamiliar markets.
*keeping track of your efforts.
*the importance of performance contracts.
*properly promoting your shows.
The Tipitina’s Foundation is a public non-profit organization dedicated to providing instruments, giving music students an exposure to the music business and raising the awareness of New Orleans music.
The Music Co-Op is a joint effort by the Tipitina’s Foundation and the City of New Orleans to provide a professional work space for musicians and others in the New Orleans music business. The Co-Op provides computers, high-speed Internet connections, a fully equipped office, tutorials and much more for those who can’t afford, or don’t otherwise have access to them. “We are helping our musicians gather the entrepreneurial skills they need to be successful.
Mayor Nagin said, “New Orleans’ musical heritage is a unique asset to both our culture and our economy. All Tipitina’s Music Foundation members have free use of a community Onlinegigs.com account. They will have access to a huge nationwide directory of contacts as well as some very sophisticated booking and promotional tools. Onlinegigs.com gives free use of its tools to all music based non profits and schools for the purpose of educating their members about effective contact management and organization.
The Co-Op is located at 4040 Tulane Avenue (at Carrolton) at Tipitina’s Fountainebleau rehearsal facility. The Co-Op is opened Monday through Friday.
