Throw More Pots

Zane’s great post, excerpted below, is a great reminder that you’ve got to DO something to BE something. I spent a lot of time this week working with clients that wanted to unhook themselves from the fear of… something. I’m sure you’ve seen this resistance, too.

To achieve success in music, as in most things, you have to get out of the house and DO something, in front of as many people as you can. Don’t worry about messing up — you will. And it’s okay. When you get good at what you do, folks forgive or forget those mistakes in time. The benefit of making mistakes early on is that few folks are around to see them.

One client asked me this week what would happen if something they tried didn’t work. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing? Only so much as you dwell on it… your fans are probably already a page ahead of you, expecting you to bounce back.

Spend some time this weekend thinking about what pots you’ll throw before the busy fall season kicks into high gear in a few more weeks.
