Justin Jackson — the indie SaaS founder behind Transistor.fm and the MegaMaker newsletter — posted a short video last week asking “Do I want it the most?”, and says it generated more replies than almost anything he’s sent in a while. He turned the conversation into a full post on his own site explaining why.

The post walks through why the #1 spot pays so disproportionately more than #10, revisits a 2015 dinner with Ruben Gamez that reset his own ambitions, and gets concrete about what building something that actually works costs you — your time, your weekends, the version of normal life you don’t get back. Jackson’s closing argument, that you can want it more without grinding yourself into the ground, is worth sitting with if the independent path has ever felt like an all-or-nothing bet to you.
