At some point, I seriously have to undertake a study of why it is — culturally — that audiences in the UK adore and embrace new music, while American audiences have to be dragged by the ankles to see a new band.

My latest case study: Orson. These guys are from Hollywood. They sound great. Think Joe Jackson fronting The Killers. Their debut record had a budget of $5,000. And they’re breaking huge in the UK. (For More Gigs Now readers: that’s one hell of a “Zone 16.”)
