Rob Fields, who once handled PR for the Black Rock Coalition, has just launched a new blog called “Bold as Love,” where he’s exploring the question of “how to bring more black folks to the music.” As Rob points out, it’s not necessarily a “music business” issue — the industry is happy to promote a band that’s got a strong fan base. The question is really: why are black musicians — especially young black musicians — limiting themselves to R&B and hip-hop when there are so many other genres to play with? I’m looking forward to reading Rob’s exploration of the answers.
