In addition to the gold-standard program at Vanderbilt and the budding concentration at the University of Georgia, App State’s starting to add music marketing instruction to its music performance curriculum. While Berklee’s obviously done this for years, and written a few of their own course texts along the way, it’s great to see other schools recognize that marketing your music skills is just as important as developing your craft.
Track these topics: college, music+business, music+major
(As a side note, Grow Your Band’s Audience and a few of my other music business books are already used as texts on a few college campuses, which is both exciting and flattering. If you’d like to share some of my tools on campus, please contact us at the “tips” address and we can hook you or your bookstore up with bulk education discounts.)
