Pigs vs. Sharks

I love that Derek Sivers is blogging his experiences as a music business mentor, if only to see him live through some of the same experiences I enjoyed on my first few “book tour” appearances.

Derek gently reminded an audience of musicians that “pigs kill more people than sharks” to point out how obscurity threatens more music careers than piracy.

And he got booed.

Such is the nature of so many conferences and networking events — it’s why so many authors, coaches, and mentors don’t do them anymore. So few of us want to hear that our biggest obstacle is between our ears and not some foe on the internet.
