Warp vs. the 800 Pound (99 pence) Gorilla

Warp Records is launching their own pay-per-download site. What’s different is that they’re just putting straight-up, un-DRM’ed MP3 files out for you to download. And the logic is clear. You can get pirated MP3s anywhere. Wouldn’t you rather skip the hassle and just pay money directly to the label and artist for something you like? [via Skiddle]

So many folks get antsy about posting MP3’s, but the folks at Warp have nailed this issue. Piracy will happen whether or not you post that material. Why not post it and get some support for the work you’re doing? 50% of a revenue stream is still better than zero.
